How much does it cost to participate?

It is free to sign up for Sidewalk. We charge a [3-5%] commission on sales made over the platform. We structure it this way to ensure fairness to all businesses of different sizes, and to make sure that you are getting value out of the service we offer. If you don’t make any sales on the site, you don’t pay anything.

Which platforms do you support?

We support any point-of-sale system that can export a CSV file. (Don’t know what that is? No problem! Reach out and we can show you the ropes). Common examples we work with are WooCommerce, Shopify, Square, Clover, and Lightspeed.

What if I don’t use a point-of-sale, or don’t have a computer?

No problem, you don’t need one to sell on Sidewalk. We can help you get started with only a smartphone.

Do I have to sign an annual contract?

No – no long term contracts are involved. You can sell on Tuesday and quit on Wednesday if you want. We do ask that you abide by our terms and conditions and become familiar with our privacy policy before selling on the site.

What is the integration process for inventory? Does it automatically change in both my software and in Sidewalk’s?

Sidewalk integrates with WooCommerce, Shopify, and Square and we plan on building integrations for other inventory software as the platform grows.

Can I list my products even if I don’t have a retail storefront?

Right now, the Sidewalk platform is limited to businesses that have a retail storefront. If you don’t have a storefront, contact us! We may be able to connect you with a retail store that can partner with you.

I don’t have a storefront. I run my business from home. Can I sell on Sidewalk?

How does Sidewalk price my products?

Sidewalk shows the prices that are set by independent retail stores – so if you are a store owner, then you price your own products.

Do you do deliveries?

Not yet, but we intend to expand to deliveries soon – stay tuned!

How do I become one of the “featured” merchants on Sidewalk?

Currently, we rotate our merchants at random. If you are interested in becoming a featured merchant contact us at Hello@shopsidewalk.com

Can I tell my other retail business owner friends?

Yes, please do! We welcome all businesses that meet our platform criteria. Our platform has a multiplier effect, in that everyone on the platform benefits from more retailers participating, because it translates to more customers visiting the site.

Will this affect my SEO ranking?

Yes, but in a positive way! Sidewalk has SEO options for every merchant on the platform, so you’ll be easier to find on the web, not harder.

When will Sidewalk be available in other cities?

We are launching in Denver in December 2020. We intend to expand beyond Denver starting in Q1 2021. If you think your city is the perfect place for Sidewalk to grow next, let us know here.

Are you backed by a big corporation or VC firm?

No. Like the businesses we serve, we are a locally owned and run company. We have a small (but rockin’) team in Denver, Colorado.
